LEARNED OUTCOMES

OUTCOME 1
Through my experience working with the management, staff, and members at Maywood Racquets Club, it goes beyond just obtaining work skills. It is about developing character and building a self-reflected confidence. My coursework in sport management helped me understand how to apply those principles in real situations. I realized that every day is a grind, and it requires patience, communication, and adaptability to work with others. This outcome showed me the true importance of emotional intelligence and leadership in recreational sports.

OUTCOME 2
My academic experience introduced me to the business side of sports and club recreation, including marketing, operations, and customer service. While working, I saw how these concepts directly impact the success of programs and organizations. From managing schedules to interacting with parents and clients, I learned that strong business practices and a high standard to maintain a sense of professionalism are essential. This reinforced my goal of combining a strong work ethic with business knowledge to create sustainability.

OUTCOME 3
Leadership is not just a theory; it is built and earned through experience. Although my internship was not a direct leadership role, I learned that leadership requires decision-making, responsibility, and the ability to guide others even when you are "just the intern." My education helped bring out and define leadership concepts, but my previous experiences at the internship site taught me how to apply them under pressure. This outcome has shaped my approach to wanting to lead, mentor, and motivate teams and others no matter what.
